ONE MAN POE comes to Hope Street Theatre this October!

For one night only, award-winning actor and producer Stephen Smith brings his acclaimed One Man Poe trilogy to Liverpool Fringe Festival in its most ambitious presentation yet. 

Fresh from multiple sold-out Edinburgh Fringe seasons, international touring, and winner of Liverpool Fringe's 2023 Best Performance (Dramatic) award, One Man Poe invites audiences into the dark, twisted imagination of Edgar Allan Poe through six of his most celebrated tales.

For the first time ever, all three One Man Poe productions will be performed back-to-back in one unforgettable evening. Each performance is a completely self-contained experience, so you can enjoy a single show, choose any two, or brave the complete Macabre Marathon with special multi-show ticket offers.

5:30pm – ONE MAN POE: The Tell-Tale Heart & The Pit and the Pendulum (60 minutes)
The perfect introduction to Poe's world. Experience two of his most iconic masterpieces as obsession, guilt and terror spiral into madness. From the haunting confession of The Tell-Tale Heart to the unbearable suspense of The Pit and the Pendulum, this gripping double bill showcases the stories that helped define psychological horror.

7:00pm – ONE MAN POE: The Black Cat & The Raven (55 minutes)
Poe's darkest domestic nightmare meets his most celebrated poem. Witness the chilling descent into violence in The Black Cat, before entering the melancholy, gothic beauty of The Raven - a theatrical retelling of one of the most famous poems ever written.

8:45pm – ONE MAN POE: The Business Man & The Case of M. Valdemar (60 minutes – New for 2026)
The newest chapter in the award-winning series. The Business Man is Poe's dark comedy satire on US capitalism, where Peter Proffit wants your vote for President of the United States. And finally, one of Poe's most disturbing stories, as science, death and mesmerism blur the boundary between life and the grave in The Case of M. Valdemar.
